Laboratory Animals Team
Laboratory Animals Team
The Laboratory Animals Team is responsible for conducting research studies to acquire the knowledge necessary for the development of drug candidates. The Team follows national and European guidelines and is committed to maintaining high ethical, hygienic, and methodological standards in the rodent vivarium. Ensuring the welfare of laboratory animals based on the 3R principle and close collaboration with the Research Department, the Preclinical Development Team, and external expert organisations allow the Team to accurately conduct studies in order to ensure highly reliable results.
The Team’s work is based on preclinical oncology models which allow the Team to select candidates for innovative anti-cancer drugs. The Team performs in vivo tests to determine pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) profiles, as well as initial toxicology studies. The Lab is comprised of facilities with superior hygiene standards and a state-of-the-art apparatus. The Lab’s equipment includes a TumorImager scanner for 3D measurement of subcutaneous xenotransplants, In Vivo Imaging System (IVIS) for the measurement of orthotopic tumours, a ProCyte Dx haematology analyser, as well as IDEXX, PointCare V2, and MNCHIP. Additionally, the Team employs a set of tools for histopathology analysis using hematoxylin and eosin staining, and immunohistochemical staining using equipment by Leica (HistoCore Pearl tissue processor, HistoCore Arcadia H+C embedder, and RM2255 fully automated rotary microtome).
