Prof. Marcin Kołaczkowski, the Leading Scientist at Adamed, awarded for work on the therapy of psychiatric diseases
Prof. dr hab. Marcin Kołaczkowski, the Lead Scientist at Adamed Pharma and Vice-Dean for Development and Science of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Jagiellonian University Medical College was the first laureate of Roman Kaliszan Prize awarded by the Medical University of Gdańsk, the Polpharma Scientific Foundation and the Scientific Society of Gdańsk. The prize was presented on 11th October 2021 during the inauguration of the academic year at the Medical University of Gdańsk. The award was granted for the development of a new generation of GPCR receptor modulators in the search for therapies for psychiatric and neurodegenerative diseases.
Since 2007, prof. Marcin Kołaczkowski has been associated with Adamed Pharma. As the Lead Scientist in the Department of Innovation, he is involved in projects in the area of the central nervous system. He is also a scholarship holder of the Foundation for Polish Science and the winner of the scientific award of the Minister of Health. What is more, he was awarded the Golden Cross of Merit for his contribution to cooperation between science and industry. His scientific achievements include 8 patents and over 90 publications.
It is a great honor for me that the scientific community has recognized that it is me who should receive the first Roman Kaliszan Prize. It is even more special for me because the award is related to a legendary figure who brought so much to the world of science. - said prof. Kołaczkowski.
