The Adamed Foundation offers various types of support for children from Ukraine
The Adamed Foundation has been supporting children and the youth for years, also helping to improve their academic performance. Therefore, faced with the war in Ukraine, it has decided to assist the youngest Ukrainian citizens seeking refuge in Poland.
Conscious of the desperate plight of Ukrainian children from children’s homes and foster families, the Adamed Foundation has donated PLN 50,000 to the SOS Children’s Villages Association. The Association, which operates as part of a group of multiple aid agencies, offers assistance on the territory of Ukraine, organizes transportation to take children to a safe place and coordinates their stay in Poland.
Other activities of the Adamed Foundation include funding and donating school starter kits to Ukrainian pupils enrolled in Polish schools. In April, 2,100 children were equipped with backpacks, school accessories and art supplies under the ADAMED SmartUp project. The school starter kits were donated through central and local government institutions of three Polish cities with the highest relative numbers of war refugees from Ukraine.
On 12 April 2022, the first school starter kits were donated as part of an official ceremony held in Warsaw’s Primary School No. 267. Katarzyna Dubno, Member of the Management Board of the Foundation, took part in the official ceremony, also attended by Renata Kaznowska, Deputy Mayor of the Capital City of Warsaw, and Paweł Michalec, Mayor of the Żoliborz District. Ms. Dubno handed over 1,000 school starter kits prepared by the Adamed Foundation for the youngest pupils from Ukraine living in the Polish capital. The authorities of Warsaw’s Bielany, Ochota, Targówek, Ursynów, Wesoła, Włochy and Żoliborz districts transferred our school starter kits directly to other pupils. More school starter kits were received by children currently living in Lublin, thanks to organizational support of the Lubelskie Voivodeship Local Government. Our kits are also already in use by children recently enrolled in the Sports School in Jarosław, having been donated in coordination with the Podkarpacie Group of Regional Education Facilities in Rzeszów.
The Foundation has also provided teaching aids in Ukrainian, developed as part of the ADAMED SmartUp programme. On YouTube, you can find a playlist entitled “Akademia ADAMED SmartUP z napisami ukraińskimi” (“ADAMED SmartUp Academy with Ukrainian subtitles”), featuring resources on selected themes related to exact and life sciences. They have been designed for teenagers and young adults aged 14-19 and will come in handy to both pupils and teachers.
We believe that our contribution will help to support children who have had to face the atrocities of war.
Together, we can do more!
